Alan Butt Philip begins two days of visits focusing on sustainable development in Wales and across Europe.

Alan Butt Philip, the lead Welsh Liberal Democrat European elections candidate begins two days of visits focused on environmental sustainability, with a litter pick in Llangattock today. Alan will be joined by Kirsty Williams, Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats as they work with the Green Valleys team and Keep Wales tidy to clean up Llangattock Park and the wider village. At midday, Alan will join Roger Williams MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, in attending the presentation of a Brecon Beacons National Park Sustainable Development Fund cheque, to Powys Sense Ltd. Powys Sense will use the funds to support the 'Healthy food, placements and produce' project. The project provides healthy activities on farms and offers land based skills and qualifications such as dry stone walling, sheep-care, hedging, horse care, horticulture and cooking.

And on Thursday, Alan Butt Philip will accompany MP for Montgomeryshire, Lembit Opik on a visit to CAT (The Centre for Alternative technology). Alan will explore the centre which has developed into a world renowned learning hub for sustainable building design and sustainable living.

Alan Butt Philip said:"The Centre for Alternative Technology can truly claim to lead the way in both practical application of sustainable technologies and in research and policy development. Their Zero Carbon Britain report proves that with ambitious and coherent sustainability policy in Westminster and in Europe, Britain could move towards a zero carbon society, averting dangerous climate change and increasing the resilience of Welsh communities to fossil fuel scarcity, economic inequalities and ecosystems decline. The Welsh Liberal Democrats want to work with organizations like CAT to ensure our desire to deliver a truly sustainable Wales is underpinned by sound science and research, instead of the green rhetoric the main parties roll out alongside their contradictory economic and developmental aims for more roads, airports and non renewable energy supply."
