Summer of Progress shows Welsh Lib Dem difference

Welsh Liberal Democrats have proclaimed themselves THE party of local government in Wales, ahead of their Autumn Conference in Clydach at the weekend, and WLGA conference in Llandudno.

Launching a document entitled "Summer of Power, Summer of Progress", local government spokesperson Jenny Randerson said the influence of Welsh Lib Dem councillors now extended to more than half of Wales' councils, and was making a real difference in opening up local democracy and improving local services. Mrs Randerson said: "Since the dust settled on the local government elections, Welsh Liberal Democrat councillors across Wales have been hard at work. All have been working to represent the people they serve all year round. Some have been working in executive positions to build the safer, greener communities we promised at the election. "Not only are we now part of administrations across Wales delivering key services to over 2 million people, but we are also showing very clearly that the bad old days of Labour domination in local government are over. People know that there's a choice.

"This document is not a detailed account of everything we've done. But it sets out some of the ways that we are making it happen in local government. It's an impressive record for the first 100 days. It shows quite clearly that we are the party of Welsh Local Government."
